Transition to Year 7

Starting Secondary School

The transition from primary to secondary school is a hugely significant stage in a child’s life and, therefore, also in the lives of their parents/carers. We understand this.

Students who are starting Year 7 at our school in September 2024 will receive information (via this website, via letter, and/or via their respective current Headteachers), which explains the strategies we have in place.

We will use these lines of communication to share key dates as and when we are able to decide them. If you have any questions about the transition process, please contact or Mrs Woods (Assistant Principal)

There are lots of really great resources our there to help support young people with the move to secondary school. We think this page on the BBC Bitesize website is a good example of that:

Our Transition Days will take place on Thursday 11th and Friday 12th July 2024.

Further details are available from the Travel Information page. Please note that Suffolk County Council Transport have now introduced an opt-in process and the deadline is 31 May 2023.

Free School Meals

Students who are attending a Norfolk Primary School will need to reapply to Suffolk County Council for Free School Meals. Further information on how to apply is available from our Free School Meals page. Do apply online as not only can you save £2,200 on dinners during your child’s education at Breckland School, but in addition the school will receive nearly £1,000 pupil premium funding per annum which is directly channelled towards your child’s education.

Details on how to order uniform are available on our Uniform page.

Do not hesitate to contact the school on 01842 819501 or if you have any questions.
